Aside from the design and functionality of the actual watch itself, one of the main differences between the Rolex Datejust and the Rolex Submariner is that Rolex offers a number of different options within each collection.
While the replica Rolex Submariner has been increasing in size since its debut in 1953, it is only offered in a single case size at a time. As of September 2020, all Rolex Submariner replica watches are available in 41mm cases, regardless of their specific reference or material. While previous generations of the Submariner featured a 40mm case, and early models from the 1950s were all available in 37mm and 38mm diameters, Rolex has never produced an additional size of Submariner to be offered with the standard model.
Since its introduction, the Rolex Submariner has been offered with only one style of the dial. Although it has been produced in several different colors over the years and has undergone numerous minor modifications and updates, all Submariner dials feature large luminous hour markers in a bold mix of geometric shapes.
All Rolex Submariner watches are equipped with a 60-minute rotating chronograph bezel. While the vintage Submariner models have aluminum inserts and the vintage reference models have bidirectional bezels, the Rolex Submariner has always featured a 60-minute rotating bezel.
Since the replica Rolex Submariner comes in both date and dateless forms, two different movements can be found inside this generation of the Rolex Submariner. As of September 2020, the Rolex Submariner No-Date is powered by the caliber 3230, while the Submariner Date is powered by the caliber 3235. Both movements are from Rolex’s latest generation of in-house movements, featuring the brand’s proprietary Chronergy escapement and a blue Parachrom hairspring.
Since its introduction in 1953, the fake Rolex Submariner has only ever been officially offered with the brand’s classic three-link Oyster bracelet. Both the bracelet and the clasp have evolved over the years as Rolex has refined and improved its designs, but the Submariner has never been officially used on any other Rolex bracelet model, such as the Jubilee, President, Pearlmaster, or Oysterflex. The Oyster bracelet is easily the most practical and sporty option Rolex has to offer. It fits perfectly with the Submariner’s purposeful, tool watch aesthetic.
